UCD project
User Centered design
My User Centered Design Project focussed on the needs of the typical messy student. A common problem with living in a cluttered busy room is that the remote is usually mispalced down the side of a sofa, or under a cusion.

I first
thought of targeting this market when I noticed a friend had fastened his TV
remote to his TV. His UCD solution has inspired me to create a product, which instead of phyically connecting the remote to the TV, connects the two together wirelessly.
My idea is that you could attach a device to the remote which makes a alarm noise when it is activated, helping the user find the remote.
I began thinking about the potensial form of my product, but struggled early on during the design process due to a lack of inspiration. To clear my mental block I began looking at existing TV remotes which form's I liked.
From this mood board I began to record a few ideas which I will include in future blogs.

Back in action after three gap years!
My Mood board.
I focussed on organic shapes, and used green adn grey as a colour scheme. I think that the natural shades contrast really well against the hard grey steels of the buildings.
I shall also be uploading all my Bsc PDT hons work onto this page.

Doodle for Google
Doodle for Google is a design competition for young designers. It offers a chance to design one of Google's classic "doodles". The winner is awarded the opportunity to have their design on Google's homepage for a day!
My design was viewed by the judges and I received a thank-you from Google head office. Shortly after they also notified me that the competition was for under 1'7s, and i was unelidgable I still enjoyed the creative side of and i think it has helped my color pencil rendering.

Goggle Speakers/headphones
A possible idea which i have been investigating for my A2 work would be a pair of headphones, which are specially suited to people who use goggles. (Ski, Snowboard and Motox)
I have created a couple of simple Pro E model's for my headphone adapted goggles, The idea has already been done by a ski goggle company called Von Zipper (http://www.bookofjoe.com/2008/02/hear-muffs-von.html) These "Macho Muffs"
are made from fabric.
My idea would be a plastic version, they would be alot more substansial, also to fit in with the "trendy" snowboarders of today, I will have to come up with something equally "trendy"
Here are a couple of very quick ideas showing three different designs. The first shows how the headphone would attach to the goggle strap
